About Me
Terri Faust quilts! Yes, I really do quilt a lot, but I’m also a wife with a very supportive husband, a mom to two awesome young people, a pianist. I have a full-time day job and am involved with my church. I’ve always been crafty, enjoyed music, puzzles, math, and colorful things.
I learned to sew in junior high home economics class, making many, many pairs of shorts, pillows, and stuffed animals. After high school graduation I got a job, cashed my first paycheck and went to a fabric store for supplies for my first quilt! I’ve done many creative hobbies throughout those early years, but quilting won my heart.
In 2013 with support from my family, the longarm quilting machine was purchased and set up. I quickly learned and began quilting for myself, my mom, aunts, and some clients part time. I started blogging and showing the world what I was working on. Cut Loose Press folks reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in writing some patterns featuring Creative Grids rulers. With nothing to lose, I gave it a try. I have three patterns published through Cut Loose Press: Scrap Crazy Bear Paw, Surprise Party, and Double Strip Constellation.
It is unusual for me to follow a quilt pattern exactly. I tend to make a few changes to the size, layout or border to suit me. Writing my own patterns came naturally and was something that I really enjoyed. I also LOVE creating with Creative Grids rulers and templates. I spend a lot of time looking at quilt books, patterns, and old traditional designs. The first thing my mind does is think… How I can make the block units such as flying geese or cat’s cradle units with the Creative Grids tools that I have?
My journey continues as I am now writing patterns on my own as a business owner! I hope to inspire others, help new quilters learn, and connect with like-minded quilting people.
